I had a really good weekend and it was mostly my own doing.
Exposition: It was super nice out and sunny and the first really spring time series of days for a while. It's been a nice warm winter, the winter has been about as benign a winter as there ever has been but it hasn't been exactly magnificent either. It's the darkness you know, the darkness that gives the hard edge to the winter and that really vanished for about two straight days. So the sun helped us all out, it was assertive and correct, like a betraying adversary who returns, flowers in hand, hat cocked in a jaunty angle, ready to make amends, you old sun, I can't stay mad at you.
In my family, the Egyptians - we're mainly born in the edge of winter and spring, so there are a lot of birthdays between February and April with 6 of us all born in March alone. So I got this idea - after having had some long cake-encrusted marches - that I would throw a big party for all of us. It was a pretty successful party over all. I rented out the Whirlyball and Lasertag arenas and we all just went wild for a few hours - a great time.
It seems at last that the torch is being passed from generation to generation - the old grey fathers retiring into the background - My own generation called up to set the new tone and pace.

Which was gratifying - but a good party - we all did well and ate famously and played excellent games hilariously.

Then on sunday everything was magic. The sky opened up and the sun shined down glorious like. We had a big nice breakfast and then visited the new aquarium and even fed and played with some chickens. We ate out at the pizza place with a patio and were just happy, happy like you are on a good day, a long nice day, peaceful and we thought hard about the beach again, and maybe we'd go sooner than later.
So just to say, a note on the second weekend in march - which I think I'll make a thing again, a big and right celebration - commemorative of the ongoing goodness.
