The Emerald Empire book is very useful, an older edition might be more desireable though - it's very, very good.

The recent imperial histories book is basically indispensable for GMs.

The L5R books available now are basically the best things out there anymore- they're of a par with the old (good) SR books and the old (good) WW stuff. Meta plot.
