In my dream there was an event in my bedroom where there were a bunch of desserts & I had to eat 'junkie-floor-pie'. It wasn't ever clear if it was named that because it was full of syringes or if the syringes were used to add specific flavors to parts of the pie because I moaned loudly about having to eat it & didn't.
It's been a couple of weeks! Kind of good too. At work some vendor gave away tickets for the orchestra showing Rebel Without A Cause - which they played the soundtrack to live - they seem to do this pretty frequently & in their phone-book of a program amongst the ads for luxury funeral services (old & rich & rich & old is the orchestra's draw) they showed what other movies they'd be doing - Close Encounters was the most sensible one to me. Anyhow, kiddo & went but mainly the thing I remember is that my knees can't take sitting in the Severance Hall for that long. Old man knees. Actually - it was neat to see with Agatha - we talked about it a bit - she wasn't super into it, I wasn't super into it - but the whole mid-century queer subtext was there & the unrelatable relationships with parents were there. We talked about that for a while but mostly the evenhanded, even kindly approach of the police in the film is the thing that shakes the verisimilitude. Afterward not much happened. Esther came and hung out - she made a Ukulele & Agatha taught her some chords & tuned it for her.
Another week - an easy-ish one. My plan for the spring is forming - soon. I'll get back to it all, but in the meantime my stupid patreon found a patron and now I'm thinking - "Shit, I gotta do a thing." So maybe I will.
Of course Friday Agatha turned 16.

She had a party with her friends at her ma's house - it was pretty sweet. Mainly I talked to her stepdad's mom - who I like & who likes me, we always have nice conversations. Even hugged Danielle a couple of times. "We did it!"
Agatha's friends are treasures. These art school kids - she's got a real & good tribe. All super kind & good to each other. It was a costumed affair - I wore a little bit of a costume myself even. She cleaned up with presents, had a lot of fun. I left before the squad went to get into watching Frankenstein.

Saturday I went to the museum to pick her up from her classes - took the healthline downtown to see the Comic Con - it was comic-con. Expensive & I couldn't find any good bargains on trades - which you sometimes find at the con. No gaming area either - which is a shame - Last time I ended up running impromptu Lost Mines of Phandelver for strangers, newbies. Converting the masses. Mainly it was comic-con. Kaito Kaylin was there. So was the kid from Rookie of the Year & Sean Astin the goonie sam. Not that I... care. Famous people! Who cares! But they were there. And. I mean, if you've not been I can't recommend it, and if you've been - you know what I mean.
We broke early & went to see captain marvel at the downtown theater - and it was good. Pretty good. It's neat that they made that movie, actually. Because you couldn't have 10 years ago, they built up a real world for characters to inhabit & now they're cashing in on their hard work & making the movies that require a lot of investment into the setting, Black Panther, Captain Marvel - I like that they're part of the elaborate context.
Train home & bus too, a descent into night-time chill. Sunday I make breakfast feast of meats & biscuits & pastry & fruits. It's all to the good but poor kid is exhausted & tired & sick-ish. Well, lady-based-sickness. So she chills the afternoon with the rice-sock & we peer at dumb movies & laugh about things.
This friday I turn 44. I took off work & that's all. I speculate that maybe next year I should do something else. When I turned 35 I inaugurated a fun party with rollerskating & laser-tag & whirleyball. But that's done. What'll I do for the next 7 or so years? 5?
I can't even tell if each year is an achievement or just a smear of dates rubbed into stone.
