The sky over the port was the color of a television tuned to a dead channel.

Maybe. Really I don't know that I've ever seen that particular shade of blue before. I do love how time has changed the meaning of that particular line. When Neuromancer came out it meant a gray & dreary sky - now it means what? Aggressive neon blue? Neuromancer used to start on a bleak autumn day and now it starts on a bright sunny one.

I want to think about this and make it somehow correspond to other ideas that have gained or lost meaning through such changes but instead I am working kind of hard at work.

I think about that probably more than anything at this moment. Getting a Living - in the Middletown sense - and this ingrained and essential aspect of our lives seems unquestionable and permanent - the only way to survive is by working - obvious to all right?

And yet, I always try to reiterate how new & strange it is. Jobs. Probably because I got my tax paperwork today.

Also, I find it odd, the word "tune." There is no tuning with new tvs, nothing analog whatsoever.
