This sounds about like how I understand it. Jenny read the books & was saying that in the books the crime statistics are meant to be shocking but are almost quaint. "There have been...more than...6 murders in Sweden this year!" Or some such silliness. That being said, endemic rape-- yeah, I don't...that isn't something I need in my movie, let alone in my heist flick? I don't get those books, I don't-- like, why do you want this like casual appalling crime to be the crux? I don't...is the weird rape the...the point? I don't get it.
