Unspeakable Speeches.

I went out to dinner last night to Lopez - which always seems like it's going to deliver and then never quite does. They had a comment card that was friendly and I filled it out. Also - by accident I walked off with the signed receipt (tequila) - and the waitress ran into Lee road to get me. I felt bad, but not terrible. Accidents. My friend I went with is some kind of food-enthusiast which continues to be one of those things that I find absurd. I mean - yeah I like food too - but getting all worked up about which things are better than others in a hysterical fugue... People say 'pretentious' to mean arrogant or vain - but the pretension that there is a real & vitally significant distinction between varieties of the same foods - that's the pretense that I don't get at all. Don't you all know that thing about how the oneirophiles couldn't tell the difference between white & red wine with food coloring? It's nonsense! And yet good vs. bad is something I get about food. It's the fetishizing that's weird.

And speaking of conversations that made more sense 10 years ago. Republicans amirite? My dinner lady friend was all set to go and watch the republicans talk to each other - and I just don't even get it. I think we're all over this thing where we have to flog ourselves with the monotonousness of our country right? It's okay to not have to experience the evil as some kind of penance. Maybe only news bloggers and inveterate creeps watch this stuff - the same people that watch beheading videos?

(Incidental note on workplace circumstances - Most of the time people think their problem is a virus and it is so rarely a virus that when one showed up just now as the real source of a real problem - my mind was kinda blown)

Sometimes I feel like I am changing a lot- becoming a different kinda fella with different kinds of interests - I mean - that happens, to everyone - that's the way it's supposed to be. I'm just not sure what I should get an interest in.
