Sep. 8th, 2013 04:27 pmOh hello. So just now I finally beat Arcanum which had been inordinately occupying my broke ass. Now I am done with it and I always have a feeling with video games that I'm enjoying this game, I'm enjoying this game, I'm frustrated and tired of this game but now play it all the time because what the hell else will I do? I'm wasting my life and my whole life is a wreck, but I'm playing this game until Pow - I've beaten that dumb game, the witch is dead. Agatha is working on homework and that's good. It's great actually - she'd been languishing all summer without direction and I've been - I don't know, feeling wrung out. Overworked or something. Now I've finished the stupid (but really, actually, super-fun game) and can do other things. Like clean all the floors, which I did first thing - second thing was supervise homework, third thing is livejournal about it. Who knows what kind of a person I am!
Yesterday we went for the long walk down the hill and then to the art museum to hang out for a while, the big huge atrium now has cool statutes - busts of all the animals from the chinese zodiac. We were disappointed in the sheep and the rabbit - but the rat was somehow adorable. Not that the sheep or goat weren't well done, but they seemed way less awesome than we are so there. the Japanese and Korean and central asian stuff is up too now, no Shang Bronzes yet, but you could see where they were beginning to display them again - exciting. I stared for a long time at the Chapans - which are a kind of Uzbek coat and I really liked them, and then I searched around and found some available on my phone while Agatha got interested in the Aztec and Inca stuff. Turns out I can just get one of these for cheaper than most coats But I'm a little confused about if getting such a coat would be kinda cool or completely insufferable - sometimes there's not a clear line. I think I'll get such a coat, I wonder if they'll make one up custom size for me if I write them?
We were going to wander some more but then I got recognized by someone - happens a lot! More lately, I'm into it - it was my old middle school friend Aaron Clark who leads the cleveland Ufology study group and introduced me to the Mothman. We used to play D&D at the abandoned insane asylum where he lived and we used to make all kinds of star trek parodies with fully constructed sets and video effects and so on. I was always the guest villain in these - I remember once, where I picked him up (him being Captain Jerk - we were just kids!) over my head and vowed that I would staple bacon to his forehead - to be like the klingons that were then so popular. Stupid Star Trek, man I hated it then too. Anyway we ignored the whole museum and caught up and that was fine, it was good seeing him.
Then we went and had shoddy mexican food and walked home and didn't feel great afterward. We laid down and went to bed early. We're reading the Patchwork Girl of Oz - which... Honestly - I have to say, I'm not sure that the first Oz book is the best one - it's pretty great sure, but I don't know. The Land of Oz is okay - but one with Tip is great and the Patchwork Girl is just dandy - I love those books.
After breakfast today we were just being chill - I finally had to put my foot down about doing homework and now it's done and I'm thinking about twisting her arm till she cleans her room. Why not? I think I'll read a book tonight, a real true one- Kafka on the Shore- I liked the Wind Up Bird Chronicle like crazy - maybe this'll make me happy.
