Winters Gone
Mar. 18th, 2015 08:45 amIt started peacefully enough - a warm nice day in North Carolina, The Biggest Live Oak in the state. The others were barefoot even. We walked in gardens and had a lovely experience.

It couldn't last - everyone is doomed to return to Cleveland in Winter. That's what happens.
Of course there was the instance of the strange night spent in Charlotte's airport. The person at the entry gate will tell you: "We don't open the door." Owing to meeting old pals at the airport, them fresh from London, me from the ocean - we are trapped & part ways, I sleep outside and play Fire Emblem. And hate. In the morning I'll go to work. I think about that & am.

Then home, to the redline, to work, to coats.

I laughed weakly and barely, and realized that I'd worn this coat and 4 layers every day for the whole year. Until the winter ended.

It's been relentless & hard. The snow from the first of the year lingered for 60 days at least. Every day it was added, never thawed. The cold would not abate, until it did.

On my birthday I saw the Robin in the Snow- a great omen - and out of a field of omens. The Augurs were priests who could discern the future by the motion of birds. It's going to be a strange year.
There was the Hawk of the Neighborhood

And the Turkey of the Brownfield

There were old rites resumed

& exciting new rituals observed

And then it ended. A present from the relentlessly hateful sky to me, on my birthday.

Since the sky & winter owed me. After all, for all the hurts - x-ray requiring & petty as well. A cruel, hard winter & gone. Now gone.

As the glacier recedes the bones of the beasts are revealed, begging reconstruction
