Mar. 14th, 2018 08:46 amAnyhow I run the ms dynamics database now and it's a genuine pleasure to do so. It's a nice program to run & work with & I like the support I get out of my vendor & ms besides. It's cool working on a nice piece of equipment. Oddly it's probably the nicest thing going at my job anymore.
I probably haven't gotten into detail about how ratty & fucked up the asphalt factory in the wasteland is, it's pretty beat up & I'm thinking on it now because the cleaning crew came last night. This means that the trash can was emptied. It's absurd really. Because I can run into the system and see the purchase orders, what we've paid to have this guy come around and not vacuum, not clean, just take out the trash and leave. The previous cleaner's son or nephew or some similar relation stole a bunch of iphones from off of my desk when we were moving on up to the newer models. I left them to do their updates overnight on a night when the cleaner came & they were gone in the morning. The Cleveland police have a strict policy that they don't investigate stolen phones. Isn't that crazy? What if you just lifted a pallet off of the truck? Do they care about hijacking? Anyhow, they refused to look into it and nobody here wanted to pursue it further, so they just hired a new guy and I bought 10 new phones. Stupid stuff right? Anyhow this guy doesn't clean for shit & I think often about the advice I mention at people which is- if you want to be in business for yourself & you have a car & a vacuum, you should start a cleaning company.
I pay the lady who cleans my house about a hundred a month (totally worth it too) and maybe she works for 4 hours (totally worth it). And that's just once a month, it's a good living for someone & you set your own terms & times — and you don't need anything at all to get started out. I speak up for it to people, I think of it for myself, sometimes. Anyway these people are supposed to clean our buildings and they're no good at all and I think that we pay them rather a lot of money to do very little.
Which gets to me, because Pareto distribution 80-20 — 20 percent of the people do 80 percent of the work etc... I want to be in the 80 percent and I keep getting knocked into the 20, working too hard for not enough cash. I've drawn a line about how much I'll do and how much more I can be expected to accomplish before a substantial raise comes through. I'm finished with waiting on people's better nature to take hold. Bosses, sheesh.
I was talking to Julie last night who's a professional girl scout now, we went to dinner for a minute as she was in the neighborhood & that was nice. Just nice. She's always seeking a boyfriend, but then, maybe not now? Her list of qualifications is pretty particular & I don't think they add up to anyone you'd actually like in middle-age. Anyhow, there was something we talked about that... suddenly escapes me. I have to set her up with a computer though — a couple of months ago I realized I don't have any copies of my Klial books so I bought a copy of each... Oh! Oh, I cashed my check from Lulu & I transferred my paypal money from DrivethruRPG and that's always nice. Getting my, like royalties. I sell about 3 books every month and that's a nice little thing to have going on. Oh! So I had this phone interview before Julie came to get me and it went okay and at the end they reveal that they don't offer insurance & all I could think was, why would you even have interviews for some fake-ass job where you don't offer healthcare? Because, right- that's why you probably don't go into business for yourself cleaning houses for $40 an hour — because you gotta have that hospitalization. Jobs... So dumb. I was yelling about it a little at Julie & that's where this all came from about her search for a man without attributes.
That people don't say who they are or what they offer because they lack the perspective to tell you up front. It's weird that who you are, if you're a person, is an amalgam of your own intentions muddled by the interactions you have with others. Often, there's this talk about Leadership as a virtue, and I guess in the end I'd regard that quality as being the ability to maintain your intended identity & path while interacting with others successfully.
